Private sessions create the trust and container in which we (breathers and pracitioners) do our deepest work. Private sessions are approximately two hours, with time for sharing, witnessing, and counseling, an hour breathwork session, and integration and affirmations and/or suggested assignments. During the "talk time" we focus on what needs to be spoken and heard that hasan't been said. Often what arises now stems from long-held beliefs, and out-dated survival strategies that have become unconsicous. In our practice we are interested in the past to the extent that energy from earlier decisions, experiences, and traumas remain alive in the system today. Our intention is to bring attention to what has been supressed to open awareness, release inhibiting energy, and increase self-knowledge and self-understanding. Throughout the breathing session we may process thoughts, emotions, and energy in the body, or the session may be more quiet, depending on what’s wanted at that moment. We meet with compassion what presents itself, and spiral down deep to find its source. Sessions are usaully done without music, enabling the breather’s experience to develop on its own without external stimuli. Sessions vary widely from person to person and session to session. Common elements include:
The first session is typically longer (about 3 hours) to allow time for an extensive interview about early life—energy around conception, womb-time, birth, and early nurturance—and current situations, such as relationships, livelihood, living situation, money, and community. This background helps create the context for our work together, and assists us in identifying recurring themes and patterns. Clients learn the practice and skills of Clarity Breathwork during their private sessions. Typically it takes a few sessions for clients to learn to discern their habitual breathing patterns, to begin changing them, and to begin to learn how to process their thoughts and emotions. We therefore recommend a minimum of ten sessions with one practitioner to develop this skill level. Ideally we also recommend a series of atleast ten sessions with a female and male practitioner because different issues and different healings emerge with support from different genders. In addition, committing to a series allows the time for developing a trusting and knowledgeable relationship between practitioner and breather. With the commitment of a series, a breather can dive deeply into her/his material knowing that support is ongoing for a time, and it is safe to go within and allow what needs to to come forward for acknowledgement and healing. Sometimes resistance, born of protection, also surfaces during a session or a series, and having the commitment of doing ten sessions supports breathers to meet that resistance and move through it to a new level of understanding and growth. Clients are invited to experience one session and then decide how to proceed. We also see clients on an occasional basis if that is what’s desired. © 2007 Maggie Ostara PhD, www.soullevel.net |
